Established in 2015, Iron Nation, Barrie’s premiere axe throwing destination, has prided itself on creating a fun, safe environment where anyone can learn how to throw an axe (or knife!). YOU GOTTA KNOW HOW TO THROW

These steps are the fundamental techniques for axe throwing. With practice, you will get comfortable and will most likely find your own technique that feels more natural to you. Once you find your natural groove you will be able to make small adjustments to increase your accuracy.

IS AXE THROWING SAFE?

Yes, though, as with all sports, there is a degree of risk involved. Iron Nation employees conduct a safety orientation before each session and closely monitor our facility and patrons to ensure a safe and fun environment for everyone.

IS THROWING AN AXE HARD?

Not at all! With a bit of coaching from the Iron Nation staff, we are confident that all people, regardless of their strength, gender or age, can excel at axe throwing.

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT?

All participants must be 18 years of age or older on all days, but for Sunday Family Throws. The age limit for Family Throw is 13 years of age.

ARE SPECTATORS ALLOWED?

Spectators are welcome. Come and cheer for your friends, family and colleagues and become part of the electric atmosphere.

CAN I BRING MY OWN AXE?

All participants of booked events must use the equipment supplied by Iron Nation. Only league members may bring their own axes as long as it meets league specifications. Personal axes must be inspected for safety purposes by Iron Nation staff before use at our facility.

CAN I BRING FOOD?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own food. Please be advised that we do not have any kitchen facilities so all food preparations must be completed off site.

CAN I BRING CHILDREN?

No, we do not allow anyone under the age of 18 to come to our facility, but for on Sunday for Family Throw. The age limit for Family Throw is 13 years of age.

CAN I DRINK ALCOHOL AT IRON NATION?

If you are 19 years of age, yes! We do not allow any outside beverages (aka BYOB) as we have our liquor license. We serve canned beer, cider, and coolers. Please keep in mind that Iron Nation is an axe throwing facility and throwing axes is our priority. We do NOT allow customers to throw if they are exhibiting any signs of intoxication at any point during your booking or walk-in. Alcohol consumption is monitored and drink limits are in place.

CAN I PURCHASE AXES AT IRON NATION?

Yes! At Iron Nation, we have a variety of throwing axes and throwing knives available for purchase. We have our products displayed in our lobby area and our staff are ready to help you pick out the right axe for you or the perfect gift for a target sport enthusiast!

WHEN CAN I DO KNIFE THROWING?

Knife throwing is available in walk-in format only. We have walk-ins during all open hours, space permitting and they are available for $20 per person for 1 hour or $15 per person for 30 minutes.

CAN I BRING MY OWN KNIFE?

Only league members are allowed to bring in their own knives for league nights. The knives must be inspected and approved by Iron Nation staff prior to use.

IS KNIFE THROWING SAFE?

We have trained coaches and multiple safety measures put in place to make knife throwing as safe as possible.

What are the terms for Sunday Family Throws?

Iron Nation is very excited to offer Family Throw sessions on Sundays for teens and parents/guardians. In order to qualify, the following terms must be met:

  • Everyone must be 13+ in order to come (this includes spectators)
  • All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
  • Parents/legal guardians must sign a legal waiver for the minor (you cannot sign on behalf of another parent/guardian)
  • There must be 1 parent/guardian for every 2 minors
  • Please contact us in advance if your group will have multiple minors
